Marie Cullen is a teacher with 40 years experience, a love of teaching children and a commitment to developing the potential in every child. Marie is the author of all the educational content for LessonBuzz.

Marie has taught in Catholic and Public Primary schools in New South Wales and for the past 25 years has operated her own after-school Education Centre in Sydney. The Centre provides additional after-school teaching in English and Maths for children from Kindergarten to Junior High School level. Marie’s teaching philosophy is based on aligning materials with a child’s existing achievement level, independent of grade or age, and building on it in a graduated manner through to mastery, thereby developing confidence and motivation that in turn flows through into all areas of a child’s learning and development.

Her experience in developing children of different ages and levels in small groups in once-a-week concentrated sessions, has refined her teaching skills to know the structure and content of the educational material needed to optimise the use of technology in teaching English. This knowledge and experience is the basis of the LessonBuzz literacy programme.

Marie holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of New South Wales, a Diploma in Education from Sydney Teachers College (now part of the University of Sydney) and a Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) from the Australian Catholic University.

Marie has appeared on the ABC’s 7:30 Report and has been featured on Australian Story and in The Bulletin magazine for her personal and academic achievements.
